Liam is continuing to feed himself with a spoon, fork, and his fingers and eat most foods. I would not say he is a good milk drinker yet but we will keep working. He loves playing with cars and making their sound as he goes. He also loves playing with balls, and riding his tricycle while we push it. His love of books, music and dancing continues as well. Liam is still taking two naps and goes to bed between 7 and 7:30 at night and wakes up between 7 and 8 in the morning. He has started to want to stay in his crib because he knows that when he leaves, he can't bring his little lovey blanket with him. I usually distract him and he is fine but we are really trying to make sure he doesn't get used to carrying it around everywhere. This is mainly because when he has it, he sucks his thumb.
Liam's vocabulary grows daily. Today he said "apple" for the first time. Some of his other favorite words this month are "cold, shoes, up, down, and car." Right now he says car for everything... trucks, firetrucks, buses, etc.. He really has fun being social and saying "hi" and"bye" to people as we pass them on a walk or in a store. Liam's sign language has grown too. He now also consistently signs "more, thank you, and eat." I really wasn't too good about teaching him these until now but he picked them up quickly. Liam enjoys making animal sounds and pointing to his ears, eyes, nose, mouth and feet. His favorite animal sound is the elephant. One new development that I don't think we needed any time soon was the shaking of his head "no." This started last week and shows up every once in a while.
Liam is in a stage of imitation. He has fun putting on our shoes, imitating me as I pay for things with my credit card at stores, talking on the phone, and getting the remote and climbing into Blake's chair. I even taught him how to do a somersault. He doesn't have it completely down but we are working on it. His curiosity and attention to things showed up again this month when he learned how to take apart the child locks we installed on our cabinets. We have had to go to plan B. He is now in a toddler/Ones room at church and on Tuesdays. He loves it. It is so much fun to see him playing with other kids and learning. Both teachers have commented once again that his "a climber and very fast." He has limited separation anxiety and most days just jumps out of our arms to go in. We are very happy about that. Our little guy is so much fun. Here are some pictures from the month.
