So Big!

Liam loves crafts...this day I got brave and let him paint

Liam turned 18 Months on December 1st. He is becoming quite a little man. At his doctor's appointment, he weighed 25.5 pounds and was 33.75 inches long. This continues to put him around the 50th percentile for weight and 90th for height. He continues to scream like crazy when we walk into the doctor's office even before the shots. I guess he remembers what happens there:) The doctor said he was a "communicator." It has been so fun these past couple months watching his vocabulary soar. He says his name now and enjoys seeing himself in the mirror or anything that shows a reflection. Liam has gotten great at giving hugs this month too. I have taught him to "squeeze." He must know I am a sucker for his sweet hugs and kisses because he often offers them when he is trying to get out of doing something he doesn't want to do.

Liam's independence is growing. He enjoys walking or running everywhere rather than being carried. If he does or does not want to do something, he communicates his opinion clearly. We decided a week or so ago to switch him to a booster seat at the table instead of his high chair. He likes it much better. He could play with the buckles in the thing for hours if we let him, and sometimes I do:)

Liam is still taking one afternoon nap. It took him a while to adjust but he now sleeps for 2-3 hours. He is in 18-24 month clothing. His eating is still fine but could be better. He is unsure of new things and often has to be given time to check them out or see them more than one time before trying them. I think if he could, he would live off of snack foods. He would much rather eat raisins, crackers, cheese or yogurt more than anything else. At least he is still good about eating vegetables and fruit. His favorite food continues to be pizzzaaaaa (as Liam would say)

We have had fun watching Liam understand his surroundings more. When my phone rings, he says "Laura." I guess we talk a lot. If I say no, he usually assumes it is Daddy or Oma. He is clear on where we are going when we pull into Starbucks and announces "coffee." We realized that we don't say the word "yes" as much as we say "yeah" or "yep" because he started saying those two words all the time but rarely a "yes." I guess Blake and I are going to have to get better manners. He really imitates us so much.

Liam's favorites continue to be cars, puppies, Elmo, Cookie Monster (cookies as Liam says), and books. His favorite show still is "The Fresh Beat Band," which has lots of singing and dancing. He has become more attached to his stuffed animals this past week as well. He usually has to have one with him when he gets out of bed, plays, or eats. I have caught him talking to them and feeding them his snacks. It is pretty cute. He doesn't have a favorite yet.

Liam is learning his colors and shapes. He pretty much has down green, orange, blue, yellow, red and purple. At first he would say purple for everything. It must have been his favorite to say. Today we were at lunch and he announced very loudly that the man nearby was wearing purple. I think he is proud of himself. The shapes he has down right now are circle and star.
