"My Do it Myself" and More Liam Updates

Since I am not doing monthly Liam updates anymore, I wanted to do an update post, mainly for my own records.  Liam has been exploring  his independence  for a while but it has hit an all-time peak these past couple weeks.  He does not want help doing ANYTHING and he wants to do everything we do even if it is something he cannot physically do.  While we are super happy that Liam is right on track developmentally, we have had many talks about how "even Mommy and Daddy need help sometimes."  Liam can now mostly dress and undress himself, including taking off his diaper--which could be good or bad.  He tries to read his own books too.  It is so cute to see how well he has paid attention to the ones we read all the time. He climbs in and out of the car and his carseat without help, which is perfect timing since I will be a little busy getting our new little one in and out.  Liam is a big helper around the house too.  He can feed Duncan and let him inside and out.  He also wants to help do things like unload the dishwasher...I am sure this won't last long.  Liam continues to love cooking with me and does a pretty good job making his own pizza.  He now has his own rolling pin with alligators on the end for him to roll out his dough.  He is constantly amazing us with all he can do on his own.

Liam also continues to love music.  He sings along to songs in the car that Blake and I like along with ones that are more "kid songs."  If you were to ask him to sing a song right now, he would probably choose "ABC's" or "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star"  At school, Liam is working on his days of the week, monthly Bible verses, and counting to 20.  He is also working on identifying letters and knows about half of them.  As far as favorites go, Liam loves his Thomas trains, anything Cars and "Elmo Street" (also known as Sesame Street).  He enjoys doing puzzles too.  He continues to do more and more pretend play and we can often hear him with his trains or stuffed animals talking back and forth.  I love hearing what he has to say.  The other day, he put Lightning McQueen in timeout:)

Liam is getting ready for his baby sister and talks about her quite a bit.  A few times he has had to go to our specialist appointments and has gotten to see her on the ultrasound.  He said "so cute."  He talks about all the things they will do together and when he sees other babies, he is much more interested than he used to be.   He has even asked for her a couple of times and I think is over the long wait of her in Mommy's tummy.  At the same time, we are enjoying our last days/weeks with our little man as our only child.

This is one of my favorite pictures because it describers the perfect morning for all the boys in my life.

Liam's new Cars 2 back pack.  He spent the first day he had it wearing it around the house the whole day.

So Excited!
