8 Months

crawling away

Liam loves electronics, just like his Daddy

Liam is 8 months old today. We haven't weighed him lately but I am guessing he is in the 19 pound range. He is still wearing 6-12 month clothes and 9 month pajamas but he can wear 12 month clothes, they are just a little long. Liam has had quite a month. He started out the month with two teeth and being able to get up on his hands and knees and rock back and forth. Then he was able to push himself up to sitting from laying down. After that, he was all over the place rolling around and scooting backwards on his belly or bottom. Last Tuesday I was volunteering and I went in to feed him and he took his first crawling steps. As of this weekend, he is all over the place. Blake and I, well mostly Blake, had quite a hard time trying to find the right system for child proofing our cabinets and doors. I guess third time is the charm because we found a set of locks that works and installed them yesterday. We continue to remove things as we realize they are a problem, like the fireplace tools:) Liam's favorite things to crawl and go get are the remote and any of Duncan's toys. Duncan has been patient but we are on the lookout for Liam actually putting those gross dog toys in his mouth. He will officially be moving up to the "Crawlers" room at church next week. Our whole house is adjusting to this new phase but we are having a lot of fun watching him explore.

When Liam got his first two teeth, we didn't even know they were coming and they didn't seem to bother him at all. We thought maybe we had gotten lucky and wouldn't have to go through all of the stories we hear about fussy teething babies. Well, we were wrong. His two top teeth finally broke through about a week ago. Before they came, we didn't know what was wrong with him. He was fussy and not eating or sleeping well. Now we know:)

Liam has learned how to give kisses this month. He rarely gave them to us at first but any time he saw a mirror in one of his books or toys, he gave himself a kiss. He LOVES his books and gets very excited every time I pick one out to read. This should make his Grandma very proud.

Blake and I have gotten out quite a bit this month. We tried a new restaurant and have hung out with some great friends. Wow, does that mean we have a life again??? We had our friend Mike visit a couple of weekends ago and even took Liam to the North Georgia wineries with us while he was here. I started volunteering again on Sundays as a coach in Waumba Land...basically that means I take care of the needs of the adults that take care of the babies. I like that I am in charge of adults instead of babies since I spend plenty of my time with a very special little boy already. We are getting ready to join another small group too. I feel like our life is finally getting back to "normal," whatever that is. Luckily we have found a couple of great babysitters. Liam likes them both a lot but we think he may have his first crush on one of them. When she comes he gives her this cute flirty smile and just stares at her. It is so funny!

We are looking forward to family visiting this week and next.
