Marlo 6 Months

Our sweet baby girl is 6 months old.  At her check up, she was 19 pounds 10 ounces and 27.25 inches long.  This puts her around the 90th percentile for height and above the 95th percentile for weight.  I am so thankful for a healthy baby girl!

This month, Marlo has started to eat solid foods like avacado, sweet potatoes, carrots, and bananas.  Her favorites so far seem to be bananas and carrots.  Marlo sits up on her own now and is very content to do so.  She will sit and play with her toys for a pretty long while by herself.  Of course, she does love to have a playmate too, especially her big brother.  Marlo is a happy, smiley girl.  Her favorite person on this earth right now is Liam.  She will laugh for him more than anyone else.  Most of the time, we can't even figure out what is so funny but the two of them are having a great time anyway.

Marlo is sleeping well but does wake up at night sometimes and fusses a little before going back to sleep.  She has not had a nighttime feeding in over a month.  Marlo continues to take 3 naps a day.  Most of the time, they consist of two longer ones and a short "catnap".   I am so thankful that she has always been a good napper.  Starting this past month, Marlo prefers to sleep on her stomach instead of her back.  She has also become attached to her lovey in her crib.  As long as she has that and her pacifier, she is usually good to go.  As far as her days of sleeping in the carseat, well they are pretty much over.  I did thoroughly take advantage of them this time, unlike with Liam.  If we are out and about, Marlo has to see what is going on and unless she is exhausted, there is no chance of her falling asleep anymore.

Marlo is wearing 9 month or 6-12 month clothes.  I am having a blast getting her dressed each morning in fun summer dresses or any other cute clothes I can find.

Marlo has also reached the stage of grabbing EVERYTHING.  A perfect example of this is when she grabbed a small plate from the table when we were out to eat recently and tossed it to the floor.  We looked like rookie parents at the time but we really didn't think she could do that yet.  Now we know.  I think our eating out days are going to be pretty limited during this phase.  I am not looking forward to the combination of the grabby, put everything in your mouth stage and crawling, especially with Liams toys and snacks around.  As far as I am concerned, she can wait a while for the crawling to happen...no rush!

Overall, our little girl has left the infant stage and is becoming an engaging, interactive baby.  I absolutely love this age!
