July 6, 2012 was our 10 year wedding anniversary. Wow, have our lives changed! Between moves, buying a house, getting a dog, great vacations, having 2 kids, and all the other fun things along the way, we have had an eventful 10 years. Since we were in Illinois, we thought we should take a trip to Chicago for a night and leave the little ones with my parents. I am so glad we did. We had such a great time. We drove up early on the 5th, got checked in and headed out to the architectural boat tour on the river. This was highly recommended to us and we weren't disappointed. Besides the 100 degree temperature, the sights were amazing. At least there were nice cold beverages to enjoy along the ride. After the tour, we went to Weber Grill restaurant for a burger, took a nap, then enjoyed a walk around the city before dinner. I will do another post about dinner but it was at a restaurant called Moto. It was quite an experience. After dinner it was time for a nightcap and then back to the hotel. The next day we slept in and since check out wasn't until noon, we saw no reason in leaving any earlier. It is now that I cherish any morning I can lay in bed until 10 or 11 before having to get up and get ready. We headed out for some shopping and awesome Chicago pizza at Gino's East before our drive back to Bloomington. I have to say that as always, Blake did an awesome job planning the trip. I love that I do not have to do any of this. My only request was pizza:) We stayed at the Waldorf Astoria just a block off Michigan Avenue. Great location and beautiful hotel. We were on the 25th floor, which was a little high up when I looked down from the balcony but it was beautiful. I can't wait to take another trip to Chicago again.
