July 1, 2009 One Month Old Today

Liam is one month old today. We have really enjoyed the past month. It has been full of changes and lots of smiles, mainly from Blake, myself, friends and family. Liam still isn't smiling on his own, although, I do think he smiled at me the other day. He did it twice and hasn't done it since so I am hoping more are to come soon. We feel like his has grown a lot this past week. According to his eating, he has hit a growth spurt too. I weighed him this morning and he is around 9 and a half pounds. We don't go back to the doctor until August 3rd for his two month appt. so we will know more then. We also think he has gotten longer. Liam is enjoying his play gym on the floor where he swats at the things dangling and just stares at everything around him. We are working on "tummy time" each day. He has a pretty strong neck. he has been able to hold his head up for short periods of time since birth but he keeps getting stronger. He is discovering his arms and legs more and more too. He still has blocked tear ducts. I cannot wait until they open up. Until then, his eyes just need cleaned out throughout the day. He also is losing the hair on the top of his head. He looks like an old man with a receding hair line. As far as sleep goes, he is getting up every 3-4 hours at night on average to eat. He usually goes right back to sleep after feeding. This morning I put him back to bed and he just talked and talked for over 30 minutes. We didn't care, he wasn't crying and eventually did go to sleep. He is still sleeping in the pack and play bassinet in our room. Blake would like to move him to his room after we get back from the 4th of July. We will see. I would like to wait until he sleeps longer stretches.

Liam was a good sport as I got him all dressed up for his one month picture. We have so many clothes for this size and I thought "why not put something cute on him to put on the blog." He really didn't like the hat. The shoes are from his Aunt Tori. We visited some friends last night and had to put them on. They are sooo cute!

Blake and I are doing well. Our weekends seem to be full but at the end of the day we can't really tell you what we did. I am enjoying being home and trying to get out as often as I can to feel like I am part of the outside world as well. I can't believe how much he has changed over the last few days and I am so happy I haven't missed any of it. We have been going on walks as much as possible. The weather has been super hot so we have to go early. It is also a challenge to take Duncan and Liam. I am ready to really work out again. I feel like myself completely and think I can handle it but the doctor said I have to wait 6 weeks. I don't want to push it since I had the complications I did after birth. The daycare at the gym doesn't take babies until they are 3 months old so I still have some time.

We are heading to Illinois for the 4th of July. Liam is going to meet so many friends and family. We are excited to go home.

Love that you have this blog now. Time to update your profile paragraph on here though. ;)

I'm so glad things are going well. What a cutie! It's really important to get out and do small things. Liam's super portable at this age, too. How long will you be in BN?
