Tennessee with the Sirons---June 2014

The first weekend of June, all of the Siron clan got together in Smithville, Tennessee.  The house we stayed in was in a remote area with caves and a really pretty creek on the property.  There were also a group of chickens and a very friendly dog that came to visit.  The house had several ticks and NO internet or cell service.  I normally don't mind getting away but with all of those little ones, cell service is a must (read on to find out why:)).  The trip was a great time for the kids to swim in the blow up pool, all of us to hike, make smores, play games, have a massive water balloon fight, stay in our pajamas all day and just relax.  Marlo takes the cake on this trip for the most things happening to her.  While playing in the pool with the other kids, Liam's plastic large tube water gun hit her in the back of the head.  Her head gashed open and of course, bled everywhere.  I was upstairs feeding Arden and came down to quite a sight.  After looking at it and Dad treating it as much as he could, we decided to take her to the emergency room (a four room little hospital in this rural town).  We had to drive several minutes to get cell service to find this place but we finally did and luckily it wasn't far.  Sure enough, Marlo needed stitches/glue.  The doctor working with her was not used to working with kids or little girls with lots of hair.  He squirted so much glue on the wound, there was no way that thing was moving.  Marlo did so well!!

The next day while talking a hike, we came back to the house to change clothes and found a tick on Marlo.  After many unsuccessful attempts of removing it and Marlo being a rockstar while we tried, we had to leave a little of it in her arm and let it work itself out.  Blake, affectionately, named it "Teddy the Tick" with Marlo.  I also found a tick on me but was able to remove it.

Overall, our trip was a lot of fun.   I may vote for going back to cushy Franklin, Tennessee next year.
